What is Robotics?
Welcome to the FIRST Robotics Competition
The varsity Sport for the Mind™, FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills and then build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team.
Students get to:
- Learn from professional engineers
- Build and compete with a robot they design
- Learn and use sophisticated software and hardware
- Compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments
- Earn a place in the World Championship
- Qualify for over $19 million in college scholarships
Who are we...
We are Team 5299 Winger Tech!
Winger Tech is one of two robotics teams in Red Wing. This year will be Winger Tech's fifth year competing. Our first year in January, Winger Tech competed in the regional competition in Duluth. We made it to semi-finals losing by one point, but there was an upside. Out of the many awards, the judges picked Winger Tech for Rookie of the year! This award elevated us to the national competition in St. Louis, Missouri! Winger Tech competed in St. Louis at the end of April. It was an amazing experience! We placed 76th as a Rookie Team.
Winger Tech wouldn't be where we are today without our amazing supporters. We are very grateful for our supporters. Winger Tech is hoping to make this year (even more!) as successful as it was these last years. We have drafted more team members and mentors.
